About Word Counter
The Word Counter is a free online tool that instantly counts the words, characters, sentences and estimated reading time of any text you type or paste. Writers, students, bloggers and SEO professionals use it to make sure an essay, article, meta description or social media post fits the required length.
How to use it: click inside the text box, then type or paste your content. The results update live as you write, so there is no button to press and no signup is needed. Words shows your total word count, Characters shows the length including spaces, Sentences shows how many complete sentences you have written, and Min read estimates how long an average reader needs, based on about 200 words per minute.
Tips: long, helpful blog posts often rank better than very short ones, meta descriptions should stay under 160 characters, and short sentences are easier to read on a phone. Your text is processed inside your own browser and is never uploaded, so your writing stays private.
